Eating To Lose

Eating to Lose!
Your body need nutrition each and every day so you can perform at your best. You need to consume calories or your body can’t function at its best. We gain weight because we take in too many calories that don’t have the nutrition that our body needs so we store this as fat.

Eating the Right Foods

Our diet needs to be high in fruits, vegetables, whole grains, lean meats, fish, nuts, and seeds so we get the nutrition that we need. The main problem is that we have gone away from wholesome eating and instead rely on a diet of heavily processed and unnatural foods. These foods cause us to gain weight as we don’t get too many calories that lack nutrition. When we consume foods that are nutrient dense they give us the energy we need to get through the day and they also tend to be lower in calories. You actually east more food but still lose weight because you’re eating good nutritious food and not garbage processed food that is high in calories but very low in nutrition.

Starvation Won’t Work

When you try and starve yourself to lose weight your body slows down your metabolism and you will find it very difficult to lose any weight at all. At the beginning you may lose a bit of weight but this will quickly come back once you start to eat again. Your body also won’t get any nutrition and you will probably start to feel ill after a very short time.

The daily requirement for calories for men just to maintain body functions is 2550 and for women this is 1940. This can vary according to your activity level and age but we need to eat daily to maintain health. One pound of body fat is 3500 calories so we need to eat food to keep our bodies functioning correctly.

By eating good natural and wholesome food your body will have the energy it needs and your metabolism will actually speed up and help you to lose weight. This is because you’re getting the right fuel and your body is running at its best. Your body has a protection mode where it will slow down if it doesn’t get enough calories and you can’t lose weight.  To lose weight you have to eat nutritious food and give your body what it needs to function. If your body works well this will naturally makе it easier to lose weight and keep it off.

THE TRUTH ABOUT MENOPAUSE, WEIGHT GAIN AND "THE POOCH"

By Colleen McCleery, MD, OB/GYN—Exuberan® by Virtua Menopause is a mixed bag of little surprises. While most women look forward to saying goodbye to tampons and pads, far fewer are excited to now experience hot flashes and night sweats. And it’s probably fair to say that weight gain is the least popular and often least expected “side effect” of this hormonal shift. Considering many women struggle with their weight on a good day, it’s not surprising that this is the number one complaint from patients who are going through this transition. Commonly deficient nutrients among vegetarians include protein, iron, vitamin B12, vitamin D, calcium, and zinc. Soy pr
