Want Better Sex? You Need To Exercise More!

by: Hayden Solomon

Are you looking for more motivation to exercise? If the numerous improved health benefits aren’t enough to get you off the couch, this just might- your sex life will improve if you exercise. However, be careful to not over-train. That could lead to the opposite effect.

Here are a few of the correlations between exercise and improved sex:

Improved self-esteem: The more you exercise, the better you look. The better you look, the more desirable you feel. One study questioned more than 400 students at Southeastern University to investigate fitness and sexual perceptions. The study involved a questionnaire on the topics of sexual performance, perceived sexual desirability, exercise frequency, and perceived fitness. The results? Both male and female subjects rated their sexual desirability higher as their self-rated fitness level rose. Men believed their sexual performance also rose with their fitness levels. And guess what…their sexual desirability rating increased to more frequently they exercised.

Improved sexual performance: The more flexible and stronger you are the better and longer you can perform sexually. Did you think you were wasting your time in yoga and strength training? Maybe not.

Improved sexual variations: The muscular endurance and strength you are building during exercise can open up a new world of positions which may not be possible if you aren’t physically fit.

Longer sex life: Harvard University studied almost 200 males and females who frequently swim. In their study, the 60 year old men and women swimmers reported their sex lives as about the same as 40 year old men and women who did not exercise. Thats a stunning result. Twenty more years of an active sex life seems like a fair trade for regular exercise.

Men: your midsection, arms and legs aren’t the only part of your body which firms up due to exercise: We all know that when you exercise you’ll end up with less flab around the middle and everywhere else. But did you know that improved circulatory systems will improve erectile dysfunction? According to researchers, active men over the age of 50 experienced better erections and had a 30% lower risk of impotence than men who did not exercise. In a Harvard School of Public Health study, inactive subjects were twice as likely to experience erection issues as subjects who regularly exercised vigorously for 20-30 minutes.

Women: Want better orgasms? University of Texas researchers studied 35 women, ages 18 to 34 to learn how exercise improved their sexual reactions. The women watched a short film followed by a short X-rated film. When the women exercised (cycling vigorously) for 20 minutes prior to the film session, their sexual response to the X-rated film was 169% greater. How did they measure that? I knew you would ask- they measured the blood flow in the genital tissue.

Dont Overdo It Convinced? Are you ready to sign up for the local marathon? Or jump on the bike and ride the entire weekend nonstop? Don’t overdo it. If you exercise too much, you can actually decrease hormone levels. The reduced hormone levels will lead to reduced sexual appetite. You can also impact your immune system by overtraining. That will also have a negative on your sexual performance. In order to avoid overtraining you need to recognize the symptoms of overtraining. You can also use a heart rate monitor to avoid overtraining.

If they marketed heart rate monitors as ‘sexual performance trainers’ do you think they would sell more? I think so.

Adopting a Vegetarian Diet

Adopting a vegetarian diet has become a popular choice for individuals looking to improve their health, particularly as heart disease and obesity rates continue to rise in many parts of the world. Vegetarians tend to have lower cholesterol levels and consume fewer trans fats than those who consume meat and dairy products. However, to maintain good health, vegetarians must ensure they obtain the right amount of nutrients from their vegan diets. By taking care to plan their diets carefully, vegetarians can enjoy a satisfying and tasty way of life. While there is no established vegan diet, it is widely agreed that with so many vegetarian diets to choose from, the choice is ultimately up to the individual. However, vegetarians must be cautious not to make their diets too restrictive as this can lead to difficulties in meeting the body's daily nutritional requirements. Commonly deficient nutrients among vegetarians include protein, iron, vitamin B12, vitamin D, calcium, and zinc. Soy pr...
