Beauty and Your Health

Tip # 1
Skin care, beauty, fitness and health go hand in hand. For those of you who are looking to loose weight, beauty is a key factor in keeping motivated. If you don't feel beautiful, you are more inclined to not follow through any diet or exercise program. If you don't feel good about yourself you will most likely not be motivated and give up.
However, on the other hand, If you look good on the outside, it tends to make you feel good on the inside; hence, giving you the motivation to follow through and complete your diet and/or exercise program and loose the weight you want to and be healthy and fit.

Tip # 2
Skin care is very important to younger healthy looking skin. You should use a cleansing product that targets your specific needs and is specific to your age and skin type. Not all cleansing products are the same just as not everyone's skin is the same. The same goes for creams. You should use a product that targets your specific needs and is specific to your age and skin type, one that addresses your concerns (do you have fine lines developing, or do you have deep wrinkles developing?) Another thing you should use is a good eye treatment, again one that addresses your specific needs (bags under/above the eyes, dark circles, crows feet).

Tip # 3
Last but not least is make-up. Again, you should use make-up that addresses your concerns and is for your skin type (is your skin oily or dry?) Another thing to consider is if your skin is sensitive, this should be considered on all skin products.
You should use a base that is close to your skin color, blush that highlights your skin tone, eye shadow and eye liners that make your eyes 'pop' and highlights the color and beauty of your eyes. Lip color is important too, you should try different shades to find the one that looks best on you. And let's not forget about jewelry, clothing and shoes as these are just as important to how good we feel about ourselves.
Try a mix of things, mix it up and figure out what works best for you. If you are not sure about a combination, wear it out and see if you get compliments or ask your friends and family their opinion to get their feedback, but remember, it's how YOU feel that's the most important.

THE TRUTH ABOUT MENOPAUSE, WEIGHT GAIN AND "THE POOCH"

By Colleen McCleery, MD, OB/GYN—Exuberan® by Virtua Menopause is a mixed bag of little surprises. While most women look forward to saying goodbye to tampons and pads, far fewer are excited to now experience hot flashes and night sweats. And it’s probably fair to say that weight gain is the least popular and often least expected “side effect” of this hormonal shift. Considering many women struggle with their weight on a good day, it’s not surprising that this is the number one complaint from patients who are going through this transition. The biology of menopause During the late 40s to mid-50s, a hormone called FSH (follicle-stimulating hormone) increases and no longer performs its job to regulate the ovaries. During this increase in FSH, other hormones like estrogen, progesterone and testosterone decrease. A decrease in testosterone can lead to weight gain and decreased energy. And, not surprisingly, estrogen loss has far-reaching effects beyond hot flashes. It contribut

Adopting a Vegetarian Diet

Adopting a vegetarian diet has become a popular choice for individuals looking to improve their health, particularly as heart disease and obesity rates continue to rise in many parts of the world. Vegetarians tend to have lower cholesterol levels and consume fewer trans fats than those who consume meat and dairy products. However, to maintain good health, vegetarians must ensure they obtain the right amount of nutrients from their vegan diets. By taking care to plan their diets carefully, vegetarians can enjoy a satisfying and tasty way of life. While there is no established vegan diet, it is widely agreed that with so many vegetarian diets to choose from, the choice is ultimately up to the individual. However, vegetarians must be cautious not to make their diets too restrictive as this can lead to difficulties in meeting the body's daily nutritional requirements. Commonly deficient nutrients among vegetarians include protein, iron, vitamin B12, vitamin D, calcium, and zinc. Soy pr
